If you follow me on Instagram, you’ve seen my posts about the Leggings Project. This project is dear to my heart and helps precious little ones while they are in the hospital.
The Leggings Project is a beautiful project that was birthed through tragedy. A friend of mine’s young daughter Makenzie received her angel wings as a result of a rare disease called SMARD. While she was in the PICU, she could only wear leggings on her arms and legs because of the tubes everywhere. This precious little girl’s life lives on through this project as she blesses other little ones in the same situation she was once in.
Our DIY nights consist of making knee socks into leggings (super easy) and stuffing themselves into little bags with Makenzie’s story on them. We then donate them to a local hospital. Last night we made 84 pairs of leggings. That’s 84 children that will receive a gift. 84 children who will smile because someone they don’t even know was thinking of them. And 84 Mama’s and Daddy’s who, maybe just for a slight moment, don’t feel alone anymore because LOVE has met them in their story.
This project will continue throughout the year…and hopefully into the years to come! So if you’re reading this and wondering how to get involved, we are always accepting baby leggings or knee socks anytime. We will also have one more DIY night this year- so keep watching for news on that.
